ModWright

The SWP 9.0SE is ModWright's dedicated MM/MC high-performance phono stage.

Much time and energy went into the final design of this product and it is one that I am most proud of and personaly invested in.

While ModWright began upgrading digital equipment, I found vinyl to be the ultimate reference.

To this end, I set out to build the quietest, most natural sounding and highest performance phono stage possible. The goal was high enough gain to drive low output cartridges (as low as .2mV) without need of step-up transformer. It had to be quiet, dynamic, natural, and offer ease and flexibilty of use.

Cartridge loading is set via external dip switches, allowing for both MM and MC loading.

Front panel controls allow power, mute, mono/stereo and MM/MC (Hi/Low) gain settings.

Those who own the SWP 9.0SE have supported the fact that we did indeed achieve our design goals.

Reviews

Sonic presentation of the 9.0SE is both neutral and natural. While a tube product, the use of the 5687 tube and innovative design, result in the beauty of tubes without excessive coloration or overly 'warm'/ 'romantic' sonic signature.

As Sally Reynolds indicates in her review of the 9.0SE for The Absolute Sound, there is brilliant synergy with Class D amps as well as conventional SS and tube amps.

The 9.0SE is meant to represent high value and high performance and our customers have proven this to be true.

The 9.0SE is offered in both a 'Special Editon' version and now a 'Signature Edition' version.

The 9.0 'Signature Edition' is differentiated by the use of proprietary MWI custom capacitors throughout, as well as a tube-rectified (internal) power supply with improved dual-discrete SS voltage regulation.

The current 'Signature Edition' 9.0SE represents a number of innovations and upgrades that we have learned and constantly refined since release of the first SWL 9.0 and subsequent SWL 9.0SE 'Special Edition'.

Existing SWL 9.0 and SWL 9.0SE units may be factory upgraded to 'Signature Edition' status!

I feel strongly, the importance of offering attractive upgrade paths for all ModWright customers, whether it be a component upgrade, such as to the LS 36.5 balanced tube linestage, or an upgrade of existing 9.0 and 9.0SE units.
